Community lawyering and pro bono work in India took a step forward in November with the visit of five New York lawyers and other legal professionals to Pune.
The US lawyers were part of a training scheme for Indian lawyers set up jointly by the City University of New York (CUNY) and the Pune-based Symbiosis Law College.
The aim of the joint project is to replicate CUNY Law’s community legal resource network (CLRN) programme in and around Pune, promoting law as a social service and providing legal services to marginalized communities.
