Legal experts discuss Indo-US trade laws

Corporate law experts from India and the US met in Plano, Texas, in April to discuss a range of statutory issues related to trade and business. The two-day conference was organized by the Indo-American Chambers of Commerce (IACC), the Centre for American and International Laws and the American Bar Association Section of Business Law. The delegates hoped to find ways of overcoming legal log-jams related to trade between the two countries.

Among the lawyers at the conference were the IACC’s Legal Affairs Committee chairman, Lalit Bhasin, who is also the president of the Society of Indian Law Firms, IACC president Farokh T Balsara and senior advocate UK Chaudhary. Also attending were Anil Mukim, joint secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, and Banashri Bose Harrison, commercial minister of the Indian embassy in Washington. Calcutta News Net quoted India’s commerce and industry minister Kamal Nath as saying: “The conference is being held at a very opportune time … I am confident this will convince the US businessman about India’s strong and effective legal system and the abundant opportunity for Indo-US business.” subscripton ad red 2022
