K Satish Kumar has joined Chennai-based fintech company Intellect Design Arena as its senior vice president and group chief legal officer. He departs from Ramco Systems, a software services provider, where he had been global head of legal and chief data protection officer since July 2015.
Kumar had previously worked at Intellect from 2004-2010 when it was known as Polaris Financial Technology. The company demerged from Polaris Consulting Services in 2014.
Intellect recently saw its market capitalisation pass US$1 billion.. “I earlier headed the legal division at Polaris working closely with [chairman and managing director] Arun Jain,” Kumar told India Business Law Journal. “My role has become more challenging now. Intellect is a much bigger company, with a spread over many more countries now. Now I finalise deals of much bigger size across the globe. Further, each day lots of challenges arise across the globe and as a leader in legal function I am enjoying the role of the challenges.”
The company works with more than 250 financial institutions and has offices in 30 countries. Intellect creates digital technology products for the banking and insurance industries through its four lines of business – global consumer banking; global transaction banking; risk, treasury and markets; and insurance.
During his 25-year career, Kumar also worked as a senior legal adviser at Omar Zawawi Establishment in Oman from 2010-14.
