Dear Madam,
I write with reference to the article entitled The lion and the tiger in the November 2009 issue of India Business Law Journal.
The article was illuminating and informative, covering effectively all major aspects of the evolving connectivity between Singapore and India.
There is one issue which I believe may require elaboration. This concerns the point made in the article that Singapore was being increasingly viewed as another state or metro of India. While it is true that the role of local Indians in Singapore’s success and the historic ties between India and Singapore (as evidenced by the etymological basis of Singapore’s name) are contributing factors, the primary basis for the view lies elsewhere: the recent surge in immigration from India.
