Halim Hong & Quek (HHQ) has responded to the escalating demand for technology-related legal services in Malaysia in the launch of its technology practice group with Ong Johnson and Lo Khai Yi as joint heads.

The group aims to assist clients in navigating the complex legal, regulatory and commercial landscape of the technology sector due to the increased activity in this sector in the Asia-Pacific region.

Quek Ngee Meng, managing partner of HHQ, said: “The technology sector has never been more relevant and crucial ever since the life-changing covid-19 pandemic. With the establishment of our very own technology practice group, headed by two passionate and experienced practitioners in the industry, we will be able to position ourselves strategically to assist and guide our clients through their digital transformation initiatives. Our team brings a deep understanding of the legal, regulatory and commercial challenges unique to the technology sector.”

Meng emphasises the firm’s client-centric approach, aiming to grow alongside and ahead of clients in navigating legal complexities.

“The launch of our technology group aligns with HHQ’s strategic vision for growth. We’re not just keeping up with industry trends – we’re leading the way. In an era where technology is reshaping industries and pushing boundaries, we recognise the need for specialised legal expertise to navigate the complex landscape of the tech sector. Technology knows no borders, and neither do we,” he said.
