David Blumental, who was co-chair of the Latham & Watkins’ oil and gas industry group, has joined Simmons & Simmons as a Hong Kong-based partner and head of energy and infrastructure.
As an English-speaking native who is fluent in Mandarin and Shanghainese, Blumental can use his two decades’ experience to advise both Chinese and international clients on cross-border energy projects, ranging from traditional energy and infrastructure as well as renewables, emerging technologies and other energy transition and related environment, social and governance (ESG) matters.
Iain Duncan, head of Simmons & Simmons’ energy, natural, resources and infrastructure group, said Blumental would be crucial in his new role as Asia is a key part of the firm’s global energy and infrastructure practice growth plan.
