Introduction

Lisa Zhao is a partner of Fangda Partners and has over ten years specialised and comprehensive experience practising labour and employment law in China. She specialises in both contentious and non-contentious matters, and has rich experience in cross-border employment issues.

Zhao’s services include helping clients establish and improve internal rules, policies and documents; providing legal advice on clients’ various labour and employment questions, such as recruitment, salary and benefits, rest and vacation, social insurance, employment of expatriates, labour deployment, amendment of employment terms and termination of employment; conducting employment-related due diligence in commercial transactions such as equity transfer, assets sale and restructuring and shut-down of companies, advising on personnel arrangements and compensation strategies tailored to different situations, and supporting the implementation of the strategies; making employee layoff plans;  participating in the investigation of employees’ misconduct and advising on disciplinary actions; drafting and reviewing employee share incentive plans and related legal documents, and representing clients in labour dispute arbitration, litigation and settlement.

Zhao has provided legal services to leading enterprises in medicine, education and high-tech industries in their general corporate matters and investment transactions.  Such corporate law experience has given her considerable business acumen, and enables her to advise on labour and employment matters in a practical way, fitting clients’ business needs and enabling her to deal with issues involving labour law and other areas.

Zhao provides services to a wide range of clients, including Fortune Global 500, central and state-owned enterprises, representative offices of foreign enterprises, private and start-up companies in traditional and emerging industries including healthcare, financial investment, manufacturing, education and culture, technology and media.

Zhao graduated from New York University and Shanghai International Studies University. Her working languages are Putonghua and English.
