Latham & Watkins has hired Richard Lee as a partner in its capital markets practice in Seoul, joining from Clifford Chance in Hong Kong, where he was a partner for more than 10 years.
Lee has experience in debt and equity transactions, advising on both US-registered and unregistered work with a comprehensive understanding of the South Korean market. He began his legal career as a staff lawyer at the US Securities and Exchange Commission before joining Davis Polk & Wardwell in Hong Kong in 2005.
Michael Sturrock, managing partner of Latham & Watkins’ Asia offices in Singapore, said the firm continued to see increasing numbers of international clients investing in South Korea, as well as South Korean clients seeking advice on outbound transactions.
“Richard’s reputation as a talented and experienced capital markets practitioner will further strengthen our Seoul office, as well as our wider Asia platform,” he said.
