APAC leadership reshuffle at Baker McKenzie

In mid-October, Baker McKenzie has placed two partners to prime positions in its Asia-Pacific leadership.

Michael Wong was appointed Asia-Pacific chair, in addition to his continuing role as global executive committee member, while Hong Kong partner Loo Shih Yann joined the committee for the first time.

Both partners serve as Asia-Pacific representatives on the firm’s global executive committee – the firm’s most senior leadership team of eight – playing a role in developing and implementing global strategy, and managing the firm’s day-to-day business across 77 offices in 46 countries.

Speaking about the firm’s top priority in the coming year, Wong told China Business Law Journal, “The answer is fairly straightforward. It’s really just clients. In Asia Pacific, we see some of our clients are barely surviving [because of] the pandemic, while some are actually thriving.
