Baker McKenzie & KL Partners Joint Venture Law Firm (Baker McKenzie KLP JV) has established a tax practice in Seoul, with the addition of tax experts John Jangwoon Kwak as a partner and Doug Duk Won Suh as a senior adviser.
Beomsu Kim, joint representative of Baker McKenzie KLP JV, said: “Establishing a tax practice … is an important step in our ongoing market expansion. The team’s combined expertise and knowledge will enable us to better serve our domestic and international clients.”
Kwak, a tax attorney with more than two decades of experience, brings expertise in international taxation and cross-border transactions. He was previously a senior foreign attorney at Kim & Chang and a partner at Lee & Ko. He represented multinational corporations in tax audits, litigation and transfer pricing matters, including M&A tax structuring and overseas investment strategies.
Suh has expertise in transfer pricing and overseas investments, managing advance pricing agreements, mutual agreement procedures and customs valuation arrangements. He also worked at Kim & Chang as a senior CPA and at Lee & Ko as a partner.
