Parag Bhide, a former partner at Bharucha & Partners in Mumbai, has joined Aquilaw as a partner in the M&A practice and he will lead the firm’s employment law vertical. He also brings a team of four associates.
In an exclusive with India Business Law Journal, Bhide said, “Aquilaw was a natural choice.
“Seniors in the profession, like Neerav Merchant, joined Aquilaw last year to head the Mumbai office, which speaks volumes about the work done and brand built by the firm. My decision to move was much easier after speaking to the founders and knowing about their vision for the firm.”
Bhide specialises in M&A restructurings, venture capital transactions, general corporate, and more. He has advised on complex employment law matters, employment documentation and compliance reviews, and has assisted clients on a variety of labour and employment issues, both domestically and internationally.
Bhide added that his team “ brings solid execution capabilities and experience in handling complex transactions, as well as advisory assignments. The team will further strengthen the firm’s execution capabilities in corporate M&A as well as employment matters”.
Speaking on how his clients are handling the transition, Bhide said, “I have been handling several cross-border clients, and from a timing standpoint, we are in a holiday season. This gives me some breathing room to manage existing work with the help of the existing team.”
