Baker McKenzie has hired Frankie Tam as a partner at its Hong Kong office, bolstering its capabilities in technology and cybersecurity.
Qualified in Hong Kong, New York and England and Wales, Tam focuses on digital transformation, cybersecurity, privacy and emerging technology including AI and blockchain.
Before joining Baker McKenzie, Tam joined Eversheds Sutherland as an of counsel in its Asia technology team, based in Hong Kong in 2020, and was later promoted to partner. Previously, she practised at DLA Piper.
Tam has extensive experience advising multinationals on technology transactions, including outsourcing, cloud infrastructure and commercial contracts. She has also supported financial institutions and technology companies on strategic transactions involving digital currencies, Central Bank Digital Currencies, stablecoins and cross-border payment systems.

In addition to private practice, Tam regularly provides legal support to the Hong Kong government, public sectors and industry organisations. She previously served as a member of the vetting committee of the Hong Kong Innovation and Technology Commission’s General Support Programme and as a council member of the Hong Kong Productivity Council.
She is currently the director of cyber legal policy committee at the Hong Kong China Network Security Association, an organisation dedicated to establishing a platform for cybersecurity exchange connecting the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Macau.
