Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co (SAM) and Holman Fenwick Willan (HFW) advised on a USD3 billion long-term LNG sale-and-purchase agreement between India’s Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (HPCL) and Abu Dhabi Gas Liquefaction Company.

“This agreement marks another significant milestone in India’s efforts to achieve a 15% LNG share in its overall energy mix, further reinforcing the growing strategic energy partnership between India and the UAE,” said Prashant Sirohi, lead partner for SAM.

SAM counselled HPCL, with Sirohi and senior associate Rudra Shankar leading the projects team.

Under the agreement, HPCL will purchase LNG worth around USD3 billion over 10 years. The transaction strengthens India’s long-term energy security and supports the country’s growing demand for natural gas.

HFW acted for Abu Dhabi Gas Liquefaction Company.
