Avirup Nag and his entire team have joined the projects and M&A practice at Saraf and Partners.

Nag has 18 years of experience in infrastructure projects, M&A and investment initiatives, with a particular focus on energy-related matters. He was previously a partner at Luthra and Luthra.

Saraf and Partners is a young firm, but with a long legacy, and is led by Mr Saraf – a proven administrator and rainmaker. My team members and I felt that Saraf and Partners provides a growth platform, which is stable and well managed, and will allow us to fully concentrate on developing our practice and on fee earning,” said Nag.

“Mr Saraf is a leading name in the projects and infrastructure law space – personally for me this was a big attraction. I look forward to working with him and growing my practice under his guidance and mentorship.”

He has also given counsel on climate-responsive project development, navigating intricate long-term contractual arrangements, and addressing regulatory complexities within the energy sector, encompassing renewable energy, conventional power and electric mobility.

Nag has held roles at Luthra and Luthra, IndusLaw, Trilegal, and Herbert Smith Freehills.

Speaking about his vision for the firm Nag said, “I feel that we aim to be the best and not the biggest, and use our current size as an asset.

“We should stay big enough to undertake the largest assignments that any of our clients could contemplate, yet small enough to maintain the level of senior partner attention, loyalty, intimacy and camaraderie that is essential for the success of any service sector firm.”

This announcement follows Saraf and Partners’ recent expansion in Hyderabad.

With the inclusion of Nag, Saraf now has 38 partners across its four offices in Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
