Milbank has advised parties, including the lead arrangers, senior lenders and hedge banks, over a USD403.8 million financing deal for an Indonesian hyperscale data centre campus.

James Orme, partner of Milbank’s Singapore office and Asia practice, expressed his enthusiasm, saying: “This first-of-its-kind deal marks a new era of financing for these important projects and is an area in which we are seeing increasing amounts of activity.”

Orme led the Singapore-based Milbank team, which included project, energy and infrastructure finance group members Desiree Woo, Rosaline Yusman, Jenny Zhang, Deirdre Swift and Marco Ying.

The centre is for PT Graha Teknologi Nusantara, a subsidiary of EdgeConneX International Coöperatief UA. The project involves the expansion of an existing data centre in Jakarta, along with the construction of new data halls. The sustainable-linked loans will account for key performance indicators on power usage efficacy, renewable electricity use and safety goals.

This financing deal positions Milbank at the forefront of Southeast Asia’s booming data centre market, the firm said.
