Grey Matter Legal founding partners Ray Vikram Nath and Prashant Kumar, along with Luthra and Luthra Law Offices partner Nitin Gera have launched Aretha Legal.

“Grey Matter Legal has merged its practices into the newly formed Aretha Legal, which has been formed along with the founders of GML,” Nath told India Business Law Journal.

Aretha Legal will cater to practice areas such as M&A, private equity and venture capital, private clients, litigation, dispute resolution, employment and intellectual property rights.

The trio bring with them more than a decade of experience in the legal industry. Prior to this they worked together as principal and senior associates at IndusLaw between 2015 and 2019.

Before co-founding Grey Matter Legal in 2019, Nath had also worked at Dua Associates, Kochhar & Co and Chitale & Chitale Partners. He was also a registered foreign attorney at Tokyo-based TMI Associates, and an attorney at Chambers of Brijesh Kalappa.

Kumar, who previously worked at JSA, manages assignments on technology law such as matters concerning data breaches, including criminal proceedings, privacy, and legal issues involving e-commerce transactions.

Gera had worked at Vaish Associates previously.

Aretha Legal has offices in New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Cochin, and its workforce comprises 20 fee earners, including seven partners.

The other Aretha partners are Poonam Das, Nishi Shabana, Joy Jacob and Santosh Jadhav.
