Dipti Lavya Swain, a partner at HSA Advocates in New Delhi, is resuming his independent practice, DLS Law Offices – the firm whose New Delhi and Mumbai offices he had merged with HSA.

DLS started operating in May 2018, and Swain joined HSA about a year later.

The teams at DLS in New Delhi and Bhubaneshwar currently comprise two partners and eight lawyers. The firm will also be reopening an office in Mumbai.

The other partner is Haripad Mohanty who was working at DLS prior to the merger. He will be working out of the Bhubaneshwar office.

“The team is energised and already busy on a few ongoing transactions as well as advisories. We are excited at restarting this journey,” Swain told India Business Law Journal.

The firm specialises in M&A, corporate transactions, private equity, venture capital investments and exits, start-up advisories, green energy, infrastructure, electric vehicles and batteries, among other fields.

DLS is also expected to appoint Dr Dibakar Swain, chairman of Indian Institute of Materials Management for Odisha and member at State Higher Education Council (Odisha), as its partner and senior adviser. He is also the working chairman and member of the Odisha State Level Expert Appraisal Committee at the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change in addition to holding senior positions at Birla, Jindal and Nalco group companies.

DLS plans to be a leading adviser to government and private sector on matters ranging from electric-vehicle policy to energy and infrastructure.

As a full-service law firm it will also assist clients with real estate and disputes matters.

Dipti Lavya Swain is an angel investor and mentor to startups and the firm has begun advising international and domestic clients across investment and infrastructure transactions including retail, entertainment, gaming, EPC, manufacturing and real estate.

He has more than 16 years of experience and was previously a partner at L&L Partners, corporate head at Wadia Ghandy Delhi and general counsel at Azure Power.
