Y&T Lawyers Opens Shenzhen Office

Suzhou-headquartered Y&T Lawyers has opened in Shenzhen, marking its eighth branch and first office in the Greater Bay Area.

Senior partner Bu Hao, who heads the Shenzhen office, told China Business Law Journal that the new office would “not focus on commoditised, basic legal work”.

“Based in the Greater Bay Area and supported by the firm’s integrated professional platform, the Shenzhen office will facilitate the two-way flow of legal service resources between the Yangtze River Delta and the Greater Bay Area, providing consistent and integrated support to businesses operating across regions,” he said.

In addition to Bu, partners Wang Na and He Fei will relocate from the firm’s headquarters to the Shenzhen office.

The new branch will primarily provide commercial legal services, with a particular focus on cross-border matters and corporate capital transactions.

Y&T Lawyers’ other offices are in Kunshan, Beijing, Zhangjiagang, Changshu, Nanjing, Shanghai and Taicang.

Explaining the choice of Shenzhen, Bu said: “From the perspective of industrial collaboration, the Yangtze River Delta is a hub for advanced manufacturing, while the Greater Bay Area is a centre for deep technology and cross-border capital.

“Industrial mergers and acquisitions, supply chain development and cross-border investment between the two economic regions are highly active, creating significant demand for legal services relating to cross-regional capital transactions and cross-border compliance.

“Our headquarters has long been rooted in the industrial heartland of the Yangtze River Delta and has accumulated extensive experience advising technology, innovation and manufacturing companies.

“Shenzhen is home to a large number of listed technology and innovation companies, venture capital institutions and businesses expanding overseas. The industrial ecosystems of the two regions are therefore naturally complementary.”

Bu added that Shenzhen’s proximity to Hong Kong and Macau, and its position as “an important gateway for Chinese companies expanding overseas”, would support Y&T Lawyers’ international development.

The Shenzhen office is located in Unit D2 on the 18th floor of the Radio and Television Financial Centre in Futian district.
