Withers has built up its offerings in Tokyo with the hire of corporate partner Kazumitsu Goto, who was most recently a partner at Japanese law firm TMI Associates for almost seven years.
Focusing on international and cross-border corporate M&A matters, Goto brought his experience in representing Japanese and international businesses in the public and private M&A matters for strategic and private equity clients, cross-border joint ventures, and global capital markets transactions, including advice on financial regulation.
Goto has represented several leading Japanese companies and venture capital funds in their investments in and acquisitions of startups in Japan and overseas. He also serves as external counsel for multiple early stage businesses, for which he provides advice on compliance matters for capital-raising activities.
