Huawei Technologies and Motorola Solutions settled their intellectual property disputes in mid-April. The ending of hostilities between the two paved the way for the Ministry of Commerce to approve the sale by Motorola of its network infrastructure unit to Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN). The sale was completed on 30 April for US$975 million.
According to international media reports, Huawei had expressed an interest in purchasing the unit, but Motorola chose Nokia Siemens Networks as the preferred bidder and took legal action against Huawei over an alleged conspiracy to steal its trade secrets.
Motorola accused Huawei of consipring with Lemko, a US-based mobile telecommunications software company which employed several former Motorola staff members.
