Perera joins from Norton Rose Fulbright and has experience in Southeast Asia, having been in Singapore since 2010. From 2012, he spent three years as senior in-house counsel with a mining major, where he assisted with the handling of group-wide disputes. He returned to the arbitration team at Norton Rose Fulbright in 2015.

“Daniel’s deep understanding of the commodities sector in Southeast Asia, accompanied by his inhouse experience, will prove highly valuable to our clients in the region,” said Barry Stimpson, Reed Smith’s Singapore office managing partner.

His industry-focused experience in contentious and non-contentious matters is expected to strengthen Reed Smith’s client offering in the commodities sector and is the latest strategic expansion for the firm’s Singapore office, which recently welcomed projects and construction partner Bree Miechel.

In 2016, Reed Smith’s Singapore office entered into a formal law alliance with Singapore practice Resource Law LLC, which expanded the firm’s regional offering to more than 30 lawyers.
