Energy lawyer heads Reed Smith’s Asia-Pacific operation

Reed Smith has appointed and relocated London-based energy lawyer Prajakt Samant as the new Asia-Pacific managing partner, succeeding commercial and international disputes specialist Kyri Evagora, based in Singapore.

Evagora, who had been in the Asia-Pacific role since 2020, has relocated to the London office.

“Asia is and continues to be hugely important for the firm as it offers significant potential to both us and our clients,” said Samant. “My initial focus will be working with the partners in Asia to deepen client relationships and enhance connectivity across the region, and also across the firm’s wider global footprint.”

Samant joined Reed Smith in 2014 and was the global chair of the firm’s energy and natural resources industry group from 2017-2023.

With more than 22 years of experience, his practice is focused on representing a wide range of banks, exchanges, hedge funds and energy and commodity companies in a various transactional, cross-border regulatory, compliance and risk management matters within the energy and commodities sector.
