O’Melveny & Myers has appointed Nima Amini as managing partner in its Hong Kong office from 1 February.
Amini was previously a partner in O’Melveny’s corporate department and a member of the M&A and private equity groups. He takes over the new role from James Ford, who moved to Allen & Overy this month as a partner in the firm’s funds and alternative assets practice.
“I am in the enviable position of taking on this leadership role at a time when our years-long commitment to Hong Kong, and Asia more generally, is really coming to fruition,” Amini told China Business Law Journal.
On near-term goals, he said: “I think the more interesting and immediate story is how we navigate the gradual return to the office. And to what extent our office adjusts to take stock of the useful business tools and practices we acquired through the pandemic, while trying to maintain moral and sense of collective commitment.”
Amini will oversee the office’s operations, business development, attorney recruitment and talent development.
