Dispute expert and director at Bermuda offshore law firm Cox Hallett Wilkinson, Matthew Watson, has relocated to Hong Kong to join Carey Olsen as a partner in the dispute resolution and litigation team.

Having been based in the British island territory since 2015 and spending the past three years as a director, Watson regularly advised on many complex contentious cases, often of a cross-border nature. He primarily acts for high net-worth clients and major corporations in insolvency and restructuring contexts, and trust and estate litigation.

Apart from that, Watson also has an array of commercial litigation experience, including representing clients in director and shareholder disputes, banking, insurance, tax information exchange matters, and assisting private clients with professional negligence and matrimonial matters.

Jeremy Lightfoot, Carey Olsen’s partner and head of the Hong Kong dispute resolution and litigation team, said Watson will reinforce the team’s strength as the firm has seen increased demand for Bermuda and Caribbean litigation instructions.
