The conference provided a platform for discussion on the regulatory mechanisms of various countries, and comprised sessions on opportunities for India in international trade and legal services, as well as discussion on a regulatory framework for the opening up of India’s legal sector. It was addressed by eminent personalities from Indian and foreign law firms, the Australian Law Council and leading academic faculties.

The initiative was part of government efforts to promote India’s trade in services. The Department of Legal Affairs and the Bar Council of India are taking steps to gradually liberalize the legal services sector to increase its competitiveness.
