On the implementation front, liberalization will require amendments to the Advocates Act and Limited Liability Partnership Act, along with a new regulatory mechanism to ensure a level playing field.
The Bar Council of India has condemned the “imminent” entry of foreign lawyers. The fear is that small Indian firms may not be able to compete against larger foreign competitors.
