Hilton’s attempt to restrain alleged copycat backfires

Rajasthan High Court upheld an order of a district court that restrains Hilton International from “carrying out hotel activities or any other business with other Indian companies” under a trademark similar to that of a small-town hotel in Rajasthan. The New York-based hotel group, which currently operates three hotels in India in a joint venture with the real estate company DLF, has been in a long-running feud with Hotel Hilltone located in the holiday and pilgrimage town of Mount Abu in Rajasthan.
