Han Kun Law Offices has appointed Chai Lu and Zhang Jian as partners of its Hong Kong joint operation and Beijing office, respectively.
Previously, Chai worked as the general counsel at a private equity firm. Prior to that, she worked for Sullivan & Cromwell. Qualified to practice in mainland China, Hong Kong and New York, Chai’s practice focuses on M&A, private equity transactions and securities offerings and listings. She has represented PE funds, financial institutions, multinational companies and state-owned enterprises in cross-border investments and acquisitions, covering sectors including insurance, TMT, consumer goods and mining.
Zhang joined from IP boutique firm Liu Shen & Associates, where she worked for 14 years. She specialises in IP-related legal services, especially in relation to patents. Zhang has extensive experience in patent prosecution and dispute resolution in technical fields such as telecommunications, computers, artificial intelligence and semiconductors. She also counsels for a variety of matters, including patent analysis, IP due diligence, and IP strategy design.
