Introduction

Willard Wang graduated from the University of International Business and Economics with a master’s degree in law. He has worked in the Shanghai-based Jingtian & Gongcheng Law Firm since 2017, as a partner. and has long focused on the practice areas of PE and VC, M&A, fund formation and operation, capital markets, and other corporate business. The projects in which Willard has been involved encompass a wide spectrum of industries, including consumer staples, medical and health, cultural media, high-tech, artificial intelligence, technology, media and telecoms (TMT) and real estate.

Wang has been involved in a large number of PE and VC, M&A and capital markets projects. In the area of PE and VC, Willard provides legal services to investment institution clients including SIG, Qiming Venture Partners, IDG Capital, Sino-Ocean Group, CDH Capital, Source Code Capital, Loyal Valley Capital, BA Capital, Eight Roads, Shunwei Capital, Harmony Riverside Capital, Delian Capital, FreesFund and Dayone Capital, as well as industrial giants such as the Alibaba Group and 360 Group. Willard has broad experience in fund formation and has provided great assistance in the registration of private fund managers and raising and establishing dozens of private funds for several well-known institutions including China Insurance Investment Fund, Sinosafe General Insurance, Delian Capital, Loyal Valley Capital and other well-known institutions. In capital markets, Willard has assisted several issuers for IPOs on the A-share and H-share markets, such as the Xiaomi Group, Meitu, iQIYI, Baoxin Auto, MicroPort Medical, Red Star Macalline, XD GAMES and Huisen Home Furnishing.

Wang was recognised as one of the 2021 ALB China Top 15 Rising Lawyers by Asia Legal Business Journal and as a Recommended Individual in the category of Private Equity and Venture Capital in 2022 by LEGAL 500-Asia Pacific.

Wang was admitted to the PRC bar in 2008. Willard’s working languages are native Chinese and fluent English.
