Introduction

Jacky Li is a partner based in Global Law Office’s Shanghai office, an attorney at law in the PRC and California (US), a certified fraud examiner with the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (US), and a certified UK Law Reviews Expert Panelist. He mainly focuses on regulatory compliance, corporate and government investigation, dispute resolution and litigation, and healthcare and life sciences.

Li has practised in regulatory compliance for more than 10 years and has extensive experience. He is well versed in conducting various types of internal investigations, and coping with government investigations in connection with anti-corruption (relevant Chinese criminal and administrative laws, US, FCPA, etc.), anti-monopoly, white-collar crime (embezzlement, financial fraud, insider trading, violation of trade secrets, etc.), anti-money laundering, data compliance and network security. He has helped many large multinational companies, state-owned enterprises, centrally-governed enterprises and well-known private enterprises to identify potential violations, establish and improve a full set of compliance and internal control systems, as well as interact with cross-jurisdictional government authorities on behalf of the companies.

Before practising as a lawyer, Li worked in the legal affairs office of the Shanghai Municipal Public Security Bureau, where he was on the front line of fighting against crime, and participated in and led a number of influential cases nationwide, accumulating a wealth of judicial practice experience in criminal cases and administrative law enforcement. In an era of increasingly complicated cross-border legal and regulatory environments confronted by enterprises, he is adept at transposition thinking, and able to provide practical and effective advice to clients from the perspective of government authorities, minimising legal and commercial risks to the largest extent.

Li was ranked a “Next Generation Lawyer” and “Rising Star” in regulatory compliance practice by The Legal 500 in 2019, 2020 and 2021, and also has been noted as a “Recommended Lawyer” in healthcare practice by The Legal 500 in 2019. Li also serves as a standing member of the law and compliance committee of the Shanghai Bar Association, and lectures in law and compliance-related practice courses for undergraduate students of Fudan University.
