Introduction

Ken Dai co-chairs the Practice Group of Antitrust & Competition within Dentons China. As one of the first lawyers practising antitrust law in China, he has more than 13 years of practical experience in this field. Dai leads his team in providing a full range of legal services for many multinational companies and large domestic enterprises in the area of antitrust, including, but not limited to: Antitrust investigations; antitrust compliance; merger filings; private antitrust litigation; and intellectual property and legal issues related to antitrust. His clients cover mainly the automotive industry (including spare parts), life sciences, high-tech, fast-moving consumer goods, and chemical industry.

Dai is also one of the first lawyers advising clients in the field of data protection in China. Since 2012, he has provided “one-stop” legal services to many clients in the areas of data & privacy and cybersecurity, involving legal business model assessment, establishment of data compliance programmes, cross-border data transfer, and data leakage response.

In addition, Dai has extensive legal experience in terms of compliance and regulatory, including export control and anti-commercial bribery. He also assists and represents clients in dealing with commercial disputes, especially cross-border litigation.

Dai was listed as one of the “Top Ten Outstanding Young Lawyers in Pudong New District” in 2013, and was selected as one of the “Top 20 Clients’ Most Favoured Chinese Lawyers” by Asian Legal Business in 2014 and 2017. He was named by Asialaw Profiles as 2016 China’s “Leading Lawyer” in 2017, and by Who’s Who Legal as the “Recommended Lawyer” in Antitrust and Competition Law in 2020.

In terms of social activities, Dai is a council member of the Asia Competition Association and of the Shanghai Law Society’s competition law committee. He is currently adjunct professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Zhejiang Sci-Tech University, and Shanghai University of International Business and Economics.
