Introduction

Justin Chen Yigong, founder and managing partner of PacGate Law Group, has practised for more than 20 years in the fields of private equity & venture capital, securities & capital market, investment funds, M&A, and company law, providing legal services to hundreds of startups in China and America’s Silicon Valley, and representing numerous venture capital funds. Chen mainly provides legal services for business transactions between China and the US, and advises clients on international financing, corporate M&A, joint investment, technology licensing and transfer, intellectual property protection, and other commercial matters.

He has served as the president of the Beijing University Alumni Association in Silicon Valley, is one of the founders of the Huayuan Science and Technology Association in the US, and is active in the field of venture capital investment in China and the US.

Chen graduated from Peking University with a BS in Biochemistry. He obtained his Master’s degree in Biochemistry and his JD from the University of Iowa. He is admitted to practise in California and is a registered patent attorney.

Chen was recommended as a “Private Equity Investment and Venture Capital” Leading Individual (2015-2020), as well as a “Technology, Media and Communication” Leading Individual (2016-2018) by LEGALBAND, and selected in China’s Top 100 Lawyers (The A-List) by China Business Law Journal (2018-2019).
