Introduction

Ji Chaoyi is a partner of East & Concord and head of the dispute resolution department. Ji also serves as secretary general of the Beijing Chaoyang District Lawyers Association’s international business research committee, and associate director of the Beijing Chaoyang District Lawyers Association’s young lawyers working committee. He is selected on the Beijing Bar Association’s list of lawyers with expertise in foreign-related legal services, and was invited by the World Bank to partake in its Doing Business project in 2018, 2019 & 2020, in the field of small investor protection & enforcing contracts in China.

Ji attained an LLB from East China University of Political Science and Law, and an MA in Law from the University of Bristol. His practice focuses on commercial arbitration and litigation, and he is recommended by aisalaw as the highest rated lawyer to work with in the PRC dispute resolution area, in the 2020 Client Service Excellence Ratings. He was recognised by LEGALBAND as a leading individual of arbitration in 2019 and 2020.

Ji has represented many Fortune 500 companies including the Coca-Cola Company, IBM, Honeywell, GE, Hitachi, Ameropa, ConocoPhillips, Carrefour, and leading enterprises like Tishman Speyer, DXC, Garrett Motion, Estee Lauder and China Tower in a breadth of disputes involving mechanical equipment, software engineering projects, energy projects, real estate projects, automobile industry, equity acquisitions, and international trade disputes in litigation before all levels of Chinese courts, and in arbitration before the CIETAC, BAC, SHIAC etc.

Ji helps clients balance legal risks, costs and commercial benefits, and shares his insights and understanding of commercial disputes in different industries with clients to help them make the right decision in business, to avoid disputes from occurring. When they do, Ji and his team help clients make accurate decision to maximise business benefits at minimal cost.
