Introduction

David K.Y. Tang is the managing partner, Asia for K&L Gates. His law practice concentrates on the areas of foreign investment, cross-border financings, mergers and acquisitions, and real property-related transactions. He has more than 30 years of transactional experience in the Greater China region. Tang was managing partner of Preston Gates & Ellis from 1995-1999, a predecessor law firm to the formation of K&L Gates. He is recognised in Best Lawyers and the International Who’s Who of Business Lawyers for corporate law and real estate law.

Among his activities, Tang was on the Council of the American Law Institute, and the boards of the Blakemore Foundation and the National Bureau of Asia Research. He is also a member of the Council of Foreign Relations, and was a former chair of the Anglo-American Real Property Institute, the American Bar Foundation and the ABA section of real property, probate and trust law. He served on the board of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco from 2002-2008, and as its chair from 2006-2008. He recently chaired the ABA Committee on Trade in International Legal Services. He graduated from Harvard University with an AB magna cum laude, and from Columbia University School of Law with a JD, and attended the Hague Academy of International Law.
