Introduction
Cui Liguo is the founding partner and chairman of the management committee of Guantao Law Firm. His areas of expertise are capital markets, M&A, investment and financing, and he has advised on numerous transactions relating to investment and private placement, as well as offering and listing in relation to stocks, bonds and trust funds.
Cui has provided very professional and high-calibre legal services to international and domestic clients. After more than 25 years of practising law, he has earned a good reputation from clients and peers for his responsiveness, dedication, high efficiency and professionalism.
Cui has provided legal services for the onshore/offshore offering and listing projects of stocks, bonds and trust funds for many corporations and institutions, as well as share purchases and asset purchases of many listed and non-listed companies at home and abroad, covering a wide range of industries including mineral, energy, pharmaceutical, real estate, manufacturing, communication, hotel, electric power, finance, electronics, food and special steel.
In the areas of private equity & investment funds, Cui provided PRC legal services as the leading attorney in many investment and private placement transactions, including advising on the establishment of the RMB37.55 billion (US$5.73 billion) State FOF Fund of Development of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, the establishment and investment of the RMB45 billion special investment fund of China Insurance Investment, etc.
Cui has led a number of large-scale, complicated and significant deals on the equity purchase and asset acquisition projects of approximately 20 listed and unlisted companies, at home and abroad. For instance, he advised on the restructuring of PetroChina Pipeline, on Cheung Kong and Hutchison’s reorganisation, spin-off and listing, etc.
Cui was selected on “The A-List – China’s Top 100 Lawyers” by China Business Law Journal from 2016 to 2019. He was also named as one of “China’s Top 10 Most Influential Lawyers” by ALB China Power List 2015, and from the year of 2008 to 2020, he was nominated consecutively several times for the “Managing Partner of the Year” by ALB China Law Awards.
