Introduction

Cherry Chunfei Guo specializes in entertainment laws. She was working as an in-house legal counsel in the International Federation of Phonographic Industry (IFPI) for 6 years before practicing law in China in 2000. She is one of the top copyright lawyers in entertainment industry in China. Benefit from industry experiences, she is familiar with the industry practice of sound recording and music publishing at home and abroad. Her clients are involved in the whole industry chain of music creation, recording production, copyright operation, publishing and distribution, new media transmission, artist agency, advertising and endorsement, commercial performance and so on. Her service also covers industries of book, film, animation, photography, art, computer software, etc.

Cherry has rich experiences in IP litigations and is especially good at handling complicated internet related copyright disputes and unfair competition disputes. She has represented thousands of IP cases in courts around the country. Some of them were selected as the top 10 most influential IP cases in China by courts every year. For example, one of her latest cases regarding unfair competition was simultaneously selected by the Supreme People’s Court as 2019 China’s 50 Typical IP Cases, the 2019 Beijing Court’s Top Ten IP Judicial Protection Cases, the 2019 China Top Ten Entertainment Law Cases and the Top Ten influence cases in the field of Chinese culture and media in 2019. In addition to litigation work, she is also good at providing domestic and foreign clients with specialized and perennial comprehensive legal services on intellectual property, including project negotiation, drafting and reviewing legal documents, etc.

In recent years, Cherry has actively participated in some international entertainment law forums. For example, she, as a guest speaker, participated in the China Forum of Midem in France in 2017 and All That Matters(ATM) Asia in 2020, where she introduced the legal protection of music copyright in China.

Cherry is a guest tutor in the Law School of Civil and Economic Law of China University of Politics and Law. She is also a senior trainer in Dianjing Internet Lawyer Institute. She also acts as the Director of Music Legal Committee of Beijing Culture & Entertainment Law Society. She is recognized as “2019 ALB China Top 15 IP Lawyers”, and “2019 China Top 50 Excellent IP Lawyers” and “2020 Asia IP Expert” by IP Daily.
