Charles Russell Speechlys has deepened the expertise in its new Singapore office through the recent hiring of a US-qualified international tax team as well as an Australia-admitted dispute resolution specialist.

The London-based firm has taken on board two partners Kurt Rademacher and Ivan Lu, legal director Timmoney Ng and senior associate Hara Kee, all previously from US law firm Butler Snow. International arbitration and investigations partner Peter Brabant, who previously practised as a counsel at King & Spalding, has also joined the firm in Singapore.

Rademacher was previously a partner at Butler Snow and specialises in international wealth transfer planning, advising ultra-high net-worth families and family-controlled businesses on US federal income, gift and estate tax issues.

Lu, like Rademacher, was also previously a Butler Snow partner and has been practising as a US international tax lawyer. He advises high net-worth and ultra-high net-worth individuals and families on estate planning, while frequently assisting clients with Internal Revenue Service compliance and disclosure.

Brabant has added international arbitration capability to the Singapore office, which the London-based firm launched in July last year. Brabant started his career as a solicitor at Australian law firm Corrs Chambers Westgarth in 2003, and specialises in advising companies across the energy, projects, construction and financial services sectors. Before joining King & Spalding in 2019, he had spent more than 11 years practising as an attorney-at-law focusing on global disputes and investigations at Jones Day.

Besides regularly representing clients in international arbitrations, Brabant advises on the full range of investigations covering cross-border, internal and those relating to external authorities relating to matters from corruption and cybersecurity to fraud and antitrust.

With the new hires, Charles Russell Speechlys now counts five partners in Singapore, says the firm’s website.
