Argus Partners has hired five lawyers from Algo Legal as partners. The five have brought along their teams, comprising 35 lawyers in total.

Abhinav Bhalaik and Ankit Guha of Algo Legal have joined as equity partners, while Armaan Patkar, Namitha Mathews and Neha Madan will be salaried partners at the firm. The partners will be joining the firm’s Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru offices with their respective teams.

Krishnava Dutt, the managing partner of Argus Partners said: “We had been discussing with them for the past many months about them coming on board. Ankit started his career with Argus and I had been in touch with him for a long time.”

Guha will work from Bengaluru office in the corporate, private equity and venture capital space, while Madan will be based in Delhi. He founded a coding company, Fyraway, for school children prior to joining Algo Legal, and was previously a principal associate at Kapil Sapra & Associates.

Both Bhalaik and Patkar will join the corporate, M&A, private equity and securities law field, and will be based in Mumbai. Bhalaik has advised various private equity firms, venture and investment funds. Previously he was a partner at Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co, while Patkar served as a senior associate at AZB & Partners.

Mathews will be based in the New Delhi Office and will focus on litigation, dispute resolution and corporate advisory assignments.
