Commerce & Finance Law Offices in Association with Eric Chow & Co has hired former Freshfields head of listed companies advisory Connie Cheung as a senior consultant in Hong Kong, strengthening the firm’s capital markets capabilities.
Before joining Commerce & Finance, Cheung spent nearly eight years at Freshfields’ Hong Kong office. She previously worked for three years as a consultant at MinterEllison. Earlier in her career, she trained and practised at Jones Day from 2001 and spent nearly five years from 2011 as in-house legal counsel at Daiwa Capital Markets Hong Kong. She was based in Hong Kong throughout these roles.
Cheung has more than 20 years’ experience in corporate finance, advising listed companies, financial institutions, investment banks and private equity firms on equity capital markets transactions, M&A, takeovers and regulatory compliance matters.
She specialises in advising listed companies on regulatory compliance, corporate governance, and continuing obligations under Hong Kong’s securities and corporate law framework. Her work covers disclosure obligations, reporting and filing requirements and compliance with the Hong Kong Listing Rules, the Securities and Futures Ordinance, the Takeovers Code and the Companies Ordinance.
