Riying Law Firm has recently added Chen Chen, former senior partner at Yingke Law Firm’s Shanghai office, along with his intellectual property (IP) team of 10. They will be based at Riying’s Shanghai headquarters, strengthening the firm’s IP practice and Chen’s partner registration is being processed.
Prior to joining Riying, Chen served as secretary-general of Yingke’s national intellectual property committee.
Chen has more than a decade of practice experience and is a qualified patent agent. His practice focuses on patent prosecution and enforcement, trade secret disputes, technology‑related IP infringement matters, complex commercial disputes, corporate compliance and risk management, as well as investment, financing and M&A transactions.
He is particularly experienced in disputes involving patents, trademarks and trade secrets, including infringement and ownership matters.
Chen holds a master’s degree in intellectual property law and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and automation. Drawing on his dual background in law and engineering, he advises clients in technology intensive industries such as machinery, optoelectronics, semiconductors and software.
Among his representative matters, Chen successfully represented the Shanghai Institute of Ceramics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in a series of patent ownership disputes between 2020 and 2023.
