UK magic circle firm Linklaters will suffer a blow to its India practice when two of its partners leave to join its Indian “best friend” Talwar Thakore & Associates (TTA) in Mumbai next month.
Narayan Iyer, a banking partner at Linklaters in Singapore, and Kunal Thakore, a corporate partner at the firm’s Hong Kong office, have resigned and will become equity partners at TTA on 1 December.
TTA co-founding partner Shobhan Thakore, who is Kunal Thakore’s father, told The Lawyer he was elated about the new appointments. “Suresh [Talwar] and I have been around all these years but we’ve obviously never been exposed to the sense of working in an international firm or dealing with large international clients,” he said.
