The US Department of Commerce (USDOC) has lowered countervailing duties against imports of certain pneumatic off-the-road tyres from India and Sri Lanka following a countervailing duty (CVD) and anti-dumping (AD) investigation.
The CVD and AD laws provide US businesses and workers with a quasi-judicial and internationally accepted mechanism to seek relief from market distortion effects caused by dumping and subsidization of imports into the US.
Titan International and the United Steelworkers union filed a petition before the US International Trade Commission in January 2016 calling for investigations into tyre imports from China, India and Sri Lanka, however the Chinese imports were later removed from the investigation.
