Introduction
George Wang is the Managing Partner and a Senior Equity Partner at Duan & Duan Law Firm. Qualified as a practising lawyer in China in 2001, he obtained an MJur degree from the University of Oxford in 2005. His working languages are English and Chinese. Since 2016, Wang has been repeatedly honoured in “The A-List – China’s Elite 100 Lawyers” by China Business Law Journal, consecutively recommended in the field of Corporate/Commercial by Chambers Asia-Pacific, and recognised as a “Top 15 Client Choice Lawyer” by ALB China.
Practising for more than two decades, Wang was recognised by the Ministry of Justice and the All China Lawyers Association as a “Foreign-related Leading Talent,” and has been awarded the senior professional title of lawyer. He is the secretary general of the Pudong New Area Legal Service Industry Association, a member of the foreign affairs committee of the Shanghai Bar Association, and a legislative expert of the Pudong New Area. George was selected in the first batch of the “Shanghai Foreign-related Legal Talent Pool” by the Shanghai Law Society, and serves as an arbitrator and mediator for CIETAC, SHIAC, Shanghai Arbitration Committee, etc. He has also been engaged as the director for one state-owned and four public companies listed in Shanghai and Hong Kong.
Wang has extensive experience in the areas of investment and M&A, capital markets, and foreign-related commercial dispute resolution. He has been recognised by many clients for his ability to provide one-stop legal services in both non-contentious and contentious areas, and for his proficiency with various legal approaches. He has been engaged by multinational corporations and private equity funds (PE/VC) to handle more than 100 investment and M&A projects in industries including the internet, semiconductors, renewable energy, pharmaceuticals, heavy equipment, etc. He has acted for many companies in the issuance of interbank and exchange-traded bonds, private equity offerings and IPOs, as well as the structuring for overseas listings. He also specialises in cross-border litigation and arbitration, and has successfully represented domestic and foreign companies in many commercial contracts and shareholder disputes, thanks to his unique perspectives from being an attorney and an arbitrator.
