Introduction

Zhou Kaichang is a senior partner and a member of the Management Committee of Huye Law Firm, honorary director of the Labour and Human Resources Committee, special consultant of the Supreme People’s Procuratorate, part-time professor of the East China Normal University, tutor of master’s degree students at both the East China University of Politics and Law and the University of International Business and Economics of Shanghai, and special expert lawyer of the Legal Consultation Committee of the Shanghai Municipal Association of Science and Technology. He is also a member of the Expert Consultation Committee of the Department of Human Resource Development and a member of the Human Resources and Social Affairs Department, both in Anhui province. His practice areas include labour and human resources, corporate law, contract law and dispute resolution.

Zhou has been engaged in the theoretical research and practices of labour law for a long time, providing litigation and non-litigation advice for many enterprises. He has also been participating in the legislative research of the labour contract law, labour disputes mediation and arbitration law, and the law on promoting employment. He has accumulated rich experience in labour and personnel compliance, executive management, corporate mergers and acquisitions, and employee resettlement, especially in the handling of collective labour relations or disputes. Zhou has helped author nearly 10 books on the theories and practices of labour law. The main works he has contributed to include the Guide to Labour and Personnel Compliance Management, the Dictionary (the labour law section of the entries), the Encyclopedia of Laws (labour law and social law part of the Peking University edition), Socialisation and Internationalisation of the Adjustment of Labour Relationships, Jurisprudential View of Social Security, Six-fold Perspective of Selected Cases of Labour Law, Labour Dispatch, Labour Disputes, Labour Dispute Law, and Labour Dispute Management. He has also contributed to the Labour Dispatch, Research on the Legal System of Labour Disputes, and Case Study on Chinese Labour Law. He has published hundreds of professional articles with more than 8 million words. In addition, Zhou was honoured as one of Legalband’s Top 15 Lawyers in Labour Law in 2023, a Brand Star in Labour Law in 2023 by Law News Agency, Top 30 Leading Lawyers in labour law, “Star of Strength” by Legalone in 2023, and “recommended lawyer” in labour and employment in the Legal 500 in 2024.
