Wu Jian

Introduction

As Regional Managing Director for Asia-Pacific at Kobre & Kim, Wu Jian oversees the firm’s business development, strategy, operations and product initiatives across the region, in co-ordination with the firm’s resources around the globe.

Throughout his career, Wu has acted in a wide range of complex China-related disputes involving governments, state-owned enterprises, multinational corporations and high-net-worth individuals, including litigation in Hong Kong, the US, the UK and offshore jurisdictions such as the British Virgin Islands and Cayman Islands, as well as arbitrations under the rules of Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre and International Chamber of Commerce. He helps clients design, develop and implement global strategies in alignment with their commercial interests.

Wu has particular experience with multi-jurisdictional investigations and compliance reviews involving allegations of fraud, bribery, corruption and money laundering. He frequently advises Chinese companies and financial institutions on global compliance matters in terms of anti-corruption, data privacy, as well as sanctions imposed by government authorities. He is expert in helping Chinese entities navigate potential enforcement actions by multilateral development banks as a result of alleged wrongdoing.

Wu also counsels high-net-worth individuals and senior management of institutional clients facing sensitive investigations or enforcement proceedings initiated by overseas government authorities such as the US Department of Justice and Securities and Exchange Commission.
