Withers has added special counsel Gary Leung to its litigation and arbitration team and has promoted Alex Ye to special counsel in Hong Kong to boost the firm’s dispute resolution practice in Asia.

Joseph Chu, partner and regional divisional leader for APAC’s litigation and arbitration team, said: “Leung brings an impressive track record that aligns with our global arbitration and litigation practice. The firm and team are also delighted by Ye’s promotion to special counsel. He has played an integral role in the firm’s many successes over the years.”

Leung brings his expertise as a solicitor advocate specialising in complex commercial, financial and insolvency litigation, alongside proficiency in domestic and international arbitration and contentious regulatory matters. His previous experience as a barrister, with appearances in all levels of court in Hong Kong and before arbitral tribunals, positions him as a valuable addition to the firm’s dispute resolution capabilities.

Sherlin Tung, a partner in Withers’ litigation and arbitration team, said: “Leung’s arrival and Ye’s well-deserved promotion strongly enhance our ability to service our clients’ dispute resolution needs worldwide, with a particular focus in Hong Kong and the APAC region. We have further strengthened our dispute resolution capabilities and reinforced our commitment to Hong Kong as a leading seat for resolving commercial disputes, whether it be in arbitration or litigation.”
