Introduction

Lin Xiaodong,senior partner and executive director at the Shenzhen office of Hiways Law Firm, graduated from Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, has 24 years of financial and economic legal experience, and has obtained the qualification of senior corporate compliance officer. He has worked in the head office and branches of a large state-owned bank and a listed bank, and has served as an expert member of the Loan Review Committee, the first head of a compliance management team, and the head of a first-level department. His main practice areas are banking and finance, equity investment, restructuring and M&A, bankruptcy and reorganisation, and state-owned enterprises and state-owned legal services, and he has a wealth of case experience in corporate governance, risk investment, disposal of non-performing assets, investment and financing dispute resolution. Lin is a permanent legal adviser of many well-known central and local state-owned enterprises (Fortune 500), financial institutions, listed companies on the NYSE and other well-known enterprises.

Lin is a “product manager-type” lawyer practising the spirit of craftsmanship, skilled in all kinds of investment and financing business models and financial products. He was nominated for the 2022 ALB China South China Banking and Finance Law Firm of the Year Award, and in 2023, he was appointed as a distinguished professor of the Pacific Life Insurance Company’s Greater Bay Area International Family Office Business School.

He has sponsored or participated in many influential cases and projects, including an RMB46 billion (USD6.5 billion) syndicated loan project for Shenzhen’s Ling’ao nuclear power plant, sponsoring the issuance of short-term financing bonds by a central securities company for several consecutive phases, a mixed ownership reform project for a centralised company in the cultural and tourism industry, the acquisition of an A-share listed company by a Shenzhen-based investment and control company, an investment restructuring project for a state-owned asset management company, and a number of major commercial cases that were supported by both the high or intermediate courts.
