Freshfields, W&C assist in Uber and Delivery Hero’s USD1.25bn deal

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and White & Case are advising Uber Technologies and Delivery Hero on a USD1.25 billion deal where Uber will acquire foodpanda in Taiwan for USD900 million in cash and purchase USD300 million in newly issued Delivery Hero shares.

Freshfields is advising Uber Technologies, led by M&A partner John Fisher and supported by associates Devony Schmidt and Connor Barrett.

White & Case is advising Delivery Hero, led by partners Stefan Bressler, Thilo Diehl, Ben von Maur and a team of specialists from Frankfurt, Hamburg, London, New York, Hong Kong and Singapore.

The transaction, pending regulatory approval, is expected to close in the first half of 2025 and will be one of Taiwan’s largest non-semiconductor international acquisitions.

Delivery Hero is an online food ordering and delivery company based in Berlin, with a global ecosystem of riders, restaurants, shops and partners.

Uber Technologies is a multinational transportation company that provides ride and courier services, food delivery and freight transport.
