Singh & Associates, an Indian law firm founded by Manoj Singh in 2002, has changed its name to S&A Law Offices.

Explaining the rationale for the change, Gunita Pahwa, the firm’s joint managing partner, said: “S&A started its journey in 2002 as a founder-driven firm. We have come a long way as we complete two decades of legal service. We have grown into a strong team of 300+, including lawyers and other professionals, with dedicated practice groups and departments … We believe that a fresh look and feel to the brand will push our visual identity, especially in a phase when our business is constantly evolving and moving at a rapid pace.”

Asked if she had any concerns that the name change may detract from the firm’s identity or lead to it being confused with other firms known by similar acronyms, Pahwa was confident this would not be a problem. “The strength of a brand is determined by many factors; logo and name acronyms are just two of many. Our brand’s identity has been built on the solid foundation of the excellent legal services that S&A Law Offices provides and the competent team which enables it,” she said.

The move is the latest example of a trend among Indian law firms to rebrand as acronyms of their former names. Another law firm, J Sagar Associates, changed its name to JSA on 1 November.
