After two successful rounds in 2020 and 2021, the Singapore Corporate Counsel Association (SCCA) will host the SCCA Legal Eagle Challenge for law students for the third time. The 25 June event will invite students to act as fictional general counsel of a fictional energy solutions provider wishing to get involved in a foreign energy project.

Structuring and conflict resolution elements are included in the scenario along with environmental, social and governance (ESG) trends. There will also be a discussion of tax and finance concerns highlighted in a case scenario by the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants during the masterclass that kick-offs the competition.

This year’s final will be the first to be held as a live in-person event since the competition began and a distinguished panel of judges will question the competitors on their approach and reasoning. A special coffee session with a senior in-house counsel leader will be offered to the winners, along with prizes sponsored by LexisNexis and Singapore firm WongPartnership.

The competition is open to teams of two to four students from any private or public Singapore institution or polytechnic. Students interested in participating in the SCA Legal Eagle Challenge should register before 1 June at www.scca.org.sg.
